The IPCC special report: Global Warming of 1.5˚C was launched in Incheon, Republic of Korea on 8th Oct 2018.

The summary press release is here and a 90 second summary of the momentous findings by Highgate resident Chris Rapley is available here.

Chris Rapley’s top 3 take away messages are:

  • the difference between global warming of 2˚C and 1.5˚C is much greater than we thought and we are currently heading for a catastrophic 3˚C
  • we are running out of time, and may even be too late
  • we all have roles to play – personal, professional and political

Chris Rapley is Professor of Climate Science at UCL, and a former director at the British Science Museum, and a longer interview with Antony Hobley, explaining why people have not been engaging with the impeding catastrophic climate breakdown is available here here.
